The soulmate drawing trend, explained

What the soulmate sketch trend is

The trend is simple: someone gets a drawing of their “soulmate”, then films the reveal: the sealed image, the countdown, their face as the portrait appears. Some videos show the drawing next to a partner they already have; others show friends guessing who it looks like. Variations include filters that put a sketch next to your face and stitched reaction videos. Search interest follows the videos: people look up the trend, the filter, whether it is free and whether it is legit.

Why it went viral

• Curiosity with a payoff: everyone wonders what their person looks like, and the reveal is a few seconds long.
• The reaction is the content: surprise, laughter or “that’s literally my boyfriend” is made for short video.
• It invites participation: viewers want to try theirs and compare.

How to make a soulmate sketch video

1. Start with the question on screen: “I asked an app to draw my soulmate.”
2. Record your screen during the reveal, or film yourself reacting with the phone beside you.
3. Show the sketch for a beat, then your honest reaction.
4. End with a question for viewers: “Should I get the husband version next?”

Be careful with trend ads

Viral trends attract aggressive ads: fake celebrity endorsements, “free” drawings that need a card, and trials that renew weekly. Read are soulmate sketches real before paying anyone, and see how to cancel if you already did.
